5TH GRADE READING
5/2 Today we worked on the 1st body paragraph. Below you will find the notes from the day.
5/1 Over the next couple weeks the 5th grade will be taking notes on how to write an essay for My Side of the Mountain. I will be posting those notes to my website.

March 13: Today we started Lesson 4 of Unit 2. Below you will find the notes from todays essential question and the listening story. Tomorrow I will post the vocab and the notes for our short story.

2/27 Below you will find the notes from todays class along with the vocab for this week. You will also find the poem for this month due March 24th.
2/22 Below you will find the vocab for this lesson and the homework sheet due tomorrow 2/23. There will be a quiz on the vocab found below on Friday Feb 24th.
2/21 We are starting Unit 2 back in the test book. Below are the notes from day one. We will still be using our binders for reading class.
2/15 We are currently still working on writing our essays for Bridge to Terabithia. We are trying a new approach. The outline above is what we will be working on for the next couple days.
2/9 For the next couple weeks we will be working on writing an essay based off a theme from the book Bridge to Terabithia.( we gave them the theme) Dr. Neri is teaching them how o write a 4 paragraph essay using the theme. She is going over each step of the essay. Below you will find notes on the intro and the body paragraphs. Dr. Neri teaches a lesson with the students then assigns homework according to the lesson. I will add notes for the next tow paragraphs when we go over those in class.
1/23 We are still reading Bridge to Terabithia. I think our new way of logging is working out well. I will put a survey on here after we are finished with the book to get some feed back. This week we are focusing on literary devices. Please see the notes below.

11/15 I will be posting summaries from Shakespeare periodically throughout the book. This way you can copy them if you happen to miss them in class.
11/8 We are starting Shakespeare today. Please check back for notes and some help if you need it. Below you will find the November Poem.
Nov 1-4 We are working on finishing up our Unit this week in reading. They will take two tests for me, one will be on the vocab and one will be on the strategies we have learned. Please study those vocab word!!!
Oct 18 We are currently in week 4 of the text book, our genre this week is narrative nonfiction. Make sure you study the vocab words this week. Test will be Friday, similar to the worksheet you did for homework.
Oct 3-7 We have started something new for reading class. We will be using a text book for the next 5 weeks. This will give you a break from logging and help you develop some skills we don't always get to. I have also added the Oct poem to the website. Let me know if you can not access it.
Some of you said that you can not access the poem for this month. I saved it as a PDF this time so hopefully it will work on all types of computers.
We will be testing all this week so I won't see you for reading. Get all your missing work in! Be ready to start the text book after testing.
9/12 We are still working on our Summer essays. Today we worked on writing the body.
Tomorrow 9/13 is the final Firegirl Test. Make sure you have your title page done as well. This week ,Aug 29th, we took our first reading test. You all did a great job. Please remember if you did not turn your log in to get it in before it is a 50%.
Today, 8/25, we worked on writing the perfect paragraph. You will need this skill for your reading test. See the notes below if you forgot yours for the homework assignment.
We are ready for the 2nd week! I am proud at how well you are getting used to the upper grade building. Keep up the great work. Today in class we reviewed what you have been reading. You all seem to be keeping up with the readings! I gave out the poem that will be due Sept 29th. Below you will find an attached copy...if you lose it.
